The Reverend, Doctor Martin Luther King, Jr. was a highly decorated civil rights leader, teacher, orator, and a national icon in the history of American progressivism. His speeches and non-violent marches helped put civil rights at the top of the liberal political agenda. He will be forever remembered as a great man. He was shot while standing on the balcony of the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, TN. He was 39 years old.
