Drake coined the term/catchphrase “YOLO” back in 2011 and now everyone is saying it and some are using it … for profit.

It’s on t-shirts, posted on Twitter, and in text messages. So the rapper is thinking about making money from the phrase while major distributors like Macy’s and Walgreens are making a whole lotta money and he’s not.

“Now she want a photo, you already know, though/ You only live once: that’s the motto ni**a, YOLO,” rapped Drake on his 2011 track “The Motto.”

He’s openly complained about not getting reimbursed for the merchandise he’s produced, but his bad, he didn’t trademark it.

“It’s unclear if Drake has a trademark for anything and/or everything YOLO or if he just expects people to send him checks when they print up clothing,” writes Jordan Sargent of Gawker. “Of course, he’s not the only person in the United States looking to horde all the YOLO cash to himself – there are over 100 YOLO trademark applications either live or dead in the United States for everything from cologne  to dog collars (perfect stocking stuffers, if you’re running super late).”

When is the last time you used the phrase YOLO or heard it being used?
