Last night the 2013 Grammy nominations came rolling in and most of our faves made the list. #TeamBeautiful is delighted for artists like Trey Songz, Frank Ocean, Janelle Monae, Miguel, 2 Chainz, Chris Brown, Kanye West, Usher, Anita Baker, Beyonce and more!
There are many things that happen in life that lead you into the depths of your memory and conjure up thoughts of where you were, who you were with and the like. Think Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. or John F. Kennedy’s assassination or maybe something a bit more lighthearted, like President Obama’s re-election. I had one of those moments last night that I will always remember. Where were you when Trey Songz was nominated for a Grammy for the third time?

I was actually with Trey Songz when he learned of his nomination for Best R&B Song for his heartfelt ballad, “Heart Attack.” Teetering on a tightrope between professional and full on thirsty fan, I was patiently waiting for a photo with Trey as tweets rolled in detailing the 2013 Grammy nominees. So as I approached him, I asked how he felt about the nomination and he responded:
“I’m blessed. Everything is a blessing.”
We snapped the photo, I congratulated him and we parted ways, but I will always remember that I was right next to one of R&B sexiest stars when he learned that his music was respected and loved on an award-winning level.
