Broadwell sparked a media fire when she made claims that the Libya attackers were targeting a hidden prison in the annex of the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi.
“I don’t know if a lot of you have heard this, but the CIA annex had actually taken a couple Libyan militia members prisoner and they think that the attack on the consulate was an effort to get these prisoners back,” she claimed.
A senior intelligence officer later denied the claims explaining that there were no prisoners being held there.
Broadwell never provided the source of her information and evidence has not linked Petraues to her claims.
Petraeus is scheduled to testify before a House committee regarding the September 11 attack in Libya that killed four Americans.
