Contrary to Mitt Romney’s belief, losing was an option and a reality.
Sources from the presidential hopeful’s campaign said that Romney was blind sided by his lost during last week’s presidential election.
Campaigners described Romney as being “shell-shocked” when he realized he did not win.
As the projections came in from each state, insiders said Romney remained confident that he would take the White House seat. It was not until Ohio results came in that Romney started to face the possibility of defeat.
"We went into the evening confident we had a good path to victory," one adviser said. "I don't think there was one person who saw this coming."
Campaign aides said the former Massachusetts governor had trouble processing the news. He was even hoping the results were wrong, something Karl Rove argued on Fox News.
