Magic Johnson is a businessman with intentions to grow.
The former NBA star purchased the rights to “Soul Train,” and is now ready to make it happen with a Don Cornelius biopic.
“We’re talking about a movie of Don Cornelius, a movie of his life,” Johnson shared as a guest on ”The Wendy Williams Show” Wednesday. “He did a wonderful job of introducing us all to “Soul Train.”
Although he was skimpy on the details regarding a possible biopic, he did mention that a return of “Soul Train” could definitely be beneficial for pop culture today.
“Can we bring it back to TV ? Because most of us, or our parents, learned how to dance from watching “Soul Train,” said Johnson. “It’s a great brand.”

Are there enough performers out here in the entertainment world to sustain the program? While pop culture may benefit from the show, there are some individuals growing up in the Black community who are culturally malnourished. I hope Magic Johnson won’t overlook them in the race to get the cross-over market.
Soul music is dead, the new name would be Rap train.
