I’m just a DJ, but I’m warning you that I’m about to preach to my church-going Christians: the ones who are considering NOT going to the polls on election day and to those of you who may have some influence on them. If you weren’t ever planning on voting or if you’ve never supported the President, I’m not talking to you. I’m appealing to those of you campaigned for him, and prayed for him and voted for him four years ago.
The President stood before the nation in Chicago the night of the election and told us it would take more than four years for him to accomplish his goals. So, if we believed then, that he was a man who can lead the country, what’s changed?
Okay, he said that he believes that gay Americans should have the same rights as all Americans and that women should be able to decide whether they will terminate unwanted or unplanned pregnancies. He didn’t say that YOU should support gay Americans or abortions. Our choices are so simple. If you are against gay marriage, don’t marry a gay person, don’t attend a gay wedding, and, tell your family and friends your feelings. Maybe you can persuade them not to be tolerant of those who don’t think like you. If you don’t believe in abortion, don’t ever get one. And have no sympathy or empathy for those who have made that decision due to rape or incest or whatever reason they have for making this deeply personal decision.
I thought that God gave us free will make to decisions, and if they turn out to be wrong, that God will deal with us. I thought we were supposed to leave judgment up to Him. We like to tout “One Nation Under God,” and “Land of the Free.” But we often don’t display the qualities God would want us to have. Nor are we recognizing that freedoms include things we don’t necessarily agree with all the time.
But I’m not here to give a civics lesson. I’m just here to try to send a message.
You don’t have to agree with everything on the Democratic Party platform. I’m not sure that even the president does. He’s trying to represent the millions of people who support him. They represent your concerns, their concerns and mine and they aren’t all the same. What if the Big Chief decided to turn his back on health care, just because some Democrats have great benefit packages on their job? What if he ignored education because many of his supporters can afford to send their children to the best schools? What if he didn’t try to create new jobs because all his friends are employed? That isn’t what he does. That isn’t what any successful presidential candidate does.
We laughed at Mitt Romney for his gaffe about not caring about 47 percent of Americans. We called that political suicide because Romney offended people who weren’t even likely to vote for him.

It’s not separation of church and state to support killing unborn babies – 400,000 black babies each year – any more than making murder illegal does.
Democrats support the state/taxpayers paying for other’s abortion. That means the state forces me to pay for something against my religion. The couldn’t even say the word “God” at their convention which was about half devoted to abortion and contraception and the glories of this godless culture.
That’s not ‘freedom’. It’s slavery to sin.
Democrats support homosexual marriage – yes Obama says he does “personally believe in homosexual marriage.” He said so on television; the democrat convention put it in their platform. The Attorney General said he will not enforce the law on Defense of Marriage which keeps one state from forcing homosexual marriage recognition on all states.
And they try to say homosexual marriage is like the fight for Black Civil Rights. That is an insult to us all.
When I was young, about the only source of pride and stability we had was church and family. Today three out of every four black babies don’t have a father. And tens of millions of black babies have been killed by Planned Parenthood – the darling of the democrats.
The black family and culture is in horrible shape. We need to get back to family – with a mother and a daddy – and church and God.
It’s not about wearing pink pants, to even make this comparison shows how far we have gone – in the wrong direction. With the democrats encouragement and help.
It’s time we held them accountable and said ‘Enough!’
I have been in church for years, and visited other churches. If President Obama brought or sent a big offering to most of these churches, they will vote for him in a flash. This is not what I heard, this is what I KNOW!
Sad…..
PREACH!!!!! Tom Joyner, you are a hero. I hope these people listen. Tell Tavis Smiley he better start supporting Pres Obama, because if Romney win he will be out of a job. Don’t Smiley work for PBS? Romney think getting rid of PBS will save money. Also, who do the pastors think will have money to pay tithes and offering if Romney win, and keep sending jobs overseas. That fact alone should change pastors minds.
Speak on my brother…….Educate these fools!
Our President has NOT lost his moral compass. He is standing up for women throughout this country who should have the right to decide what happens with their own body. Does that mean he support abortion – NO and neither do I, but I DO support the fact that I have the right to decide for myself. If you still want to support a party who clearly stated that there are 47% of the people he could careless about then that’s up to you, but remember that Romney once supported abortion and changed his mind (as they all do on occasions) to get votes. Let’s not forget that his grandfather had 5 wives. Do you support that too?
What church supports abortion or homosexual marriage? Of course most churches don’t. The point is that some churches understand the First Amendment–separation of Church and State–the way Jesus did (even before there was such a thing called the Constitution). They don’t attempt to vote the Bible into law the way Islam is the law in some Middle East countries. Voting for Obama does not mean you support abortion or homosexual marriage. Obama does not personally believe in abortion or homosexual marriage. He just does not think (as God doesn’t) that you need to legislate morality. Instead, you need to voluntarily choose morality as a basis of your personal relationship with God–not because of some law. If the President supports a law that says it’s ok for men to wear hot pink pants, that doesn’t mean all men need to wear hot pink pants, and doesn’t mean the President wants to wear them either.
Hoodtechiee, I’m an Independent and don’t believe in all the views of either party, but you need to stop drinking the Republican Kool Aid! You can’t possibly be blaming the President for 15% unemployment among our people, 50% unemployment among our teenagers, the foreclosure rate, incarceration rate, and gas prices. Are you serious? These problems were created as a result of actions taken long before the President took office! Have you forgotten that there was a financial collapse and a housing bubble bust at the end of the Bush administration? Moreover, the President does not have anything to do with gas prices—which as you know are run by private companies. That is why the President has been trying to develop and support alternative energy initiatives, which by the way Republicans, who support and own the very same companies who are charging us $4 a gallon for gas, keep opposing. So your supposition essentially boils down to—it took 8 years to make this mess, but because the President has not been able to clean it up fast enough (in the 3.5 years he’s had), we should blame him for the problems although they were created under another administration by two wars (one completely for personal vengeance for a threat against Bush’s father), no-bid contracts to the former Vice President’s company for hundreds of billions, hundreds of billions of dollars on cutting edge military equipment that even the Pentagon says we don’t need, and the absence of regulations to monitor the financial industry. Really? Over the last 31 months (under President Obama) there have been 5.2 million new jobs created. Understanding that education is the key to make our young people (and not-so-young people) more competitive in the job market, the President signed in to effect the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for African Americans Executive Order to help expand educational opportunities, improve educational outcomes, and deliver a complete and competitive education for African Americans. Now, does that mean that there isn’t high unemployment or unemployed youth? Of course not! There was a huge financial crisis that was 8 years in the making which takes time to fix. By the way, if your boys in the House wouldn’t just be there to “get the President out of office,” and just voting “no” for no sake, maybe the mess would be cleaned up a bit faster.
gwanedm…Romneys’ supreme being Brigham Young was a pardoned mass murderer..look that up…http://1857massacre.com/MMM/byoung.htm so what doe that say about him…you can’t keep fabricating a view of a man we’ve seen, we know what President Obama will do, people like you said, before his first term , that he was going to take peoples guns, gun rights have expanded under Obama, you said he was going to all the blacks some magical lift(you were really afraid of that0…and most all in your statement you under estimate the will and power of the American people, especially black people…don’t talk to us about freedom, Marxism or Communism is was your democratic republic that enslaved my ancestors not Marxist or Communist, it was your democratic republic that had institutionalized racism not Marxist or Communist, my ancestors fought too hard for freedom to have it taken away in the name of any republic…and the last time I looked we owe a lot of money to a communist country…who started that?..get something new and valid
I don’t know what church the “Fly Jock” goes to, but the church I go to doesn’t support abortion or homosexual marriage and doesn’t vote for politicians who do.
CindyCruz you’re so misguided. Have you not heard Romney’s comments about the %47. He does not care about YOU. So whose moral compas you gonna trust? You need to leave the US because you truly don’t appreciate the history or the struggle of Black Americans. My 96 year old grandma voted for a black man for president. She never thought she’d see that happen before she left here. She’s gone now, but i vote because of her struggles to endure the Jim Crow south. I vote because of my great grandfather’s struggles to endure life after being born 3 years after slavery ended. His father was born a slave. I know my ancestors longed to be foree and i know they prayed for my freedom. I feel I’m the answer to their prayers. That’s why I vote and I’m voting for Barak Obama……CindyCruz
I ran across this book of poems and wanted to share. It’s called Life and Struggles by Cassandra Hawkins-Wilson. It’s available for Kindle download on Amazon as well as paperback. I’m hoping you will enjoy it and I’m looking forward to knowing what you think. cheap prom dresses
Have you ever wondered why the Bible states that the love of money is the root of all eviI ?
1 Timothy 6:10,11 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. But you, O man of God, flee these things and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. Deuteronomy 6:5 states You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. Per Mark 12:30 this is the first commandment. The second commandment is Mark 12:31- You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is none other commandments greater than these.
Recognize today that Satan is in rebellion to God. It is his desire to have us join him in his revolt. When we choose to love money we are breaking God’s first commandment. As a result, we unintentionally become part of the devil’s plan. Evil (thoughts that bring sorrow, distress, or tragedy) now controls our thinking and we (God’s beloved whom are made in his image) willingly embrace the devil’s method’s for destroying the human race. Once this occurs, the saying ‘the devil made me do it’ does not apply: for our love of money causes us to willingly carry out the enemy’s plan of destruction.
Now instead of following righteousness (abiding by and teaching God’s divine and moral laws) making money is the primary reason for existence. Moral issues such as abstinence, shacking up, homosexual marriage, etc…. are neglected. Consequently, issues involving the economy such as: jobs, stimulus checks, Medicare funding or taxes are hailed as critical to the survival of mankind. Matthew 6:33 – But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness: and all these things shall be added unto you.
Godliness (living in the will of God) is exchanged for living in the moment. What would Jesus do is no longer a priority? The question of choice now is – what would I do?
Faith (belief in God’s word) is substituted for trust in one’s self. Philippians 4:13 – I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me is replaced by the mantra I can do all things because of me, I am a survivor.
Love (acting in any way possible to protect mankind) is replaced with apathy(total lack of concern or interest). Hence, the brutal act of abortion continues to kill an amount of American babies equal to the number of soldiers that have died in all wars the US has been involved in.
Patience (bearing pains or trials calmly without complaint) has been downgraded to heated emotions characterized by short tempers, irritation and anxiousness. This has given life to the I want it now syndrome. Therefore the wisdom found in the saying ‘Good things come to those who wait’ has been overshadowed.
Meekness (power under control) is a quality missing from our electorate to our leaders. No matter one’s position in life, if a person fails to submit and trust in God then they are not of God. Matthew 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
If the Holy Spirit has convicted you after reading this; repent (turn from sin) and turn towards God. Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. Vote according to the word!
Prayer of Repentence
My Father in Heaven,
Thank you for being Lord of my life.
Thank you for your power, love, grace and mercy.
Please forgive me for putting my financial needs and wants ahead of you and your will.
Increase the power of the Holy Spirit within me and keep me from evil.
Allow your light to shine within me and your will to be done in my life.
May your kingdom come and your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
In Jesus name,
Amen.
I believe the argument by my fellow Christians who say they will not vote for Obama because of his position of gay marriage to be misguided and sad. They seem to be arguing that voting for Obama means that they believe in gay marriage. This premise is false. Obama’s political position does not force Christians to accept or conduct gay marriages. Moreover, I doubt anyone completely agrees with every POLITICAL position a government official takes. There are many people who do not personally believe in abortion, for example, that vote for candidates who may be “pro-choice” because they recognize that the abortion issue is a religious issue that should not be legislated and that the government’s political position does not change their own personal beliefs. Christians should not be concerned with whether or not there are laws to prevent people from publically displaying beliefs which may be contrary to our religious beliefs. God Himself does not force anyone to follow His laws. Rather, He wants us to follow His laws because we CHOOSE to do so. Homosexuality is no greater a sin than any other sin. Sin is sin and we all have it. Rather than attempt to affect the political process in order to prohibit a group of people from publically expressing beliefs we believe sinful, we as Christians ought to be more concerned about helping others choose to move away from sin by showing love and compassion. Jesus did not socialize with those who thought themselves sinless, he ministered to the sinners—the harlots, thieves and the sexually corrupt through love and compassion. He did not seek to have political laws changed to make them obey God’s laws, but sought to change their hearts voluntarily by meeting their emotional and physical needs. We Christians need to be likewise ministering to all people no matter their belief, instead of being obsessed with whether the President thinks there should be laws that prohibit a group from their public expression and belief. In this election, we as Christians ought to be voting for the candidate who is most likely to allow us to assist those who need the most assistance—the poor, the sick, the homeless. Not voting for Obama will do nothing more than end the programs we Christians need to assist those who need the most assistance, and prevent Obama from being re-elected—it WILL NOT stop gay people from their beliefs. It is simply irresponsible for ministers to tell members not to vote because the President holds religious views different than theirs. The President’s job is to be the executive of all Americans—saved and unsaved. He is NOT there to pass ONLY laws that we like as Christians. You are voting for the President of the United States, NOT a pastor.
I pray for Our President and his family daily and I hear some person saying their are not voting for him because they have been told that he is the antichrist. I dont know if he is or isn’t but I know I being lead to for vote for Our President again. All I can say is wake up people mitt romey could be the anitchrist as well. So who do you vote for one that trying to fix this country regardless of all the opposition, or one that will sent this country into the same downward spiral that it was heading before the President took office. My Vote is for Our Current President, someone who is looking out for me and my family and friends. OBAMA 2012
OUR PRESIDENT of the United States did not lose his morality. He is the President of the entire USA, not just some narrow-minded, cannot see the forest for the trees, believe everything White folks say, Black folks. If I were in his shoes and needed votes, I would go after those that I know would go to the polls and vote. Too bad, he cannot depend on US to do just that “GO TO THE POLLS AND VOTE.” Too many people died for this right and too many ignorant folks that do not know their history are disgracing what we have fought for and are a disgrace to our true history.
PSEUDO PREACHERS as spoken by Rev. Sharpton tell all the Gays in your congregation to leave the church and do not pay any more tithes or offering.
Thank you for your insight and advocacy. Florida’s only African American Supreme Court justice is on the ballot, is being challenged by the Republican Party of Florida and the billionaire Koch brothers’ super pac. She cannot raise funds because of the rules of judicial conduct. We need every single listener of the TMJS who resides in Florida to vote “yes” to retain her on November 6, 2012. If we do not go to the polls and vote, it will be devasting for her campaign. Go to http://www.voteyesjusticequince.com to learn more. We must vote in large numbers on November 6, 2012.
The President needs four more years to turn this country in the direction of a Government Dependent socialist nation just like China and the Soviet Union. Folks that is the hope and change he was talking about in 2008. WAKE UP BLACK AMERICA! see Obama for who he really is!! He Does not care about Black America!!! He is just using Black America to advance his Socialist agenda!!
@MObe I think you are completely uninformed about Republican political positions. You can’t just look at Democrat ads as a source of truth! Obama and the Democrats lie and spin things to make themselves look good or to scare people into not voting for Republicans. If you really want to know the truth about what Republicans really think then you need to do your own independent research. They do not want to end all social programs and I am not sure were you heard that from and why you believe that! I am not sure why you believe the President cares about anything other than his own agenda and his own ideology. If you would have done your own research on Obama you will find that all of his mentors growing up were either marxists or domestic terrorist! Is that what you want America to turn into? Another soviet union? Government owning everything and dictating to all?
Amen my ass….If you want to hear something good call your ex…..The ugly witch you married got nothing good to say to you. If you spend all our money on Ebooks the cheaters will double overnight……Rock the vote nappy headed white boy…….ride the momentum and vote republican Uncle Tom!
So you Christian. Clowns can’t wait to donate to your republican pastor but whining about voting for our Mr. Softy nice guy President…..take your monkey asses to the voting booth along with the other nappy headed white boys.
I see you live in red neck country where they rob folks of their rights. My advice is get all those dudes that have spent time in those cages to demand their right to vote, especially after they have served their time and punishment. If you don’t demand your rights, you won’t have any, especially in red neck country..Next thing you know. You will owe the jail house for keeping you in the cage.Stay away from all cages…
I totally agree with you Tom, if people who for some ungodly reason don’t vote Obama back in office; it would mean the same as voting for the other party’s candidate. This election is most racial hating election that has ever been held.
Obama haters will vote for Romney in order to make him an one term president; it has nothing to do with being in agreement with Romney’s platform, as much as hating Obama.
VOTER SUPRESSION IN NASHVILLE TENNESSEE: I was released from prison 11 years ago & could not receive my right to vote because I was behind in child support which I had been paying regularly & have paid off. Now I am being told that I cannot register to vote because I owe the prison system $14,438.20 for room, board & other expenses because I was incarcerated. I have lived an upstanding life ever since my release and before now there has never been any mention of me owing the State of Tennessee for my incarceration. And if I owe this money, so do hundreds of thousands of ex-offenders. Please respond
Hoodtechiee,You have to remember ,it took a civil war that cost 620,000 lives to. Free our ancestors from.the hell white folks took our folks through. Then we had to march for decades to get those humiliating ,overt racist signs thrown out which denied our folks their dignity. You say it’s our own fault for being systematically discriminated against for decades. Then you try to convince us that Obama is our problem. What cave have you been sleeping in?.Most of us know better and realize that the white mans ice is not colder and the white man is not God.And it takes time to undo the white mans destruction of our economy. So,stop blaming the black man for the white mans stupidity…Run and tell that..
As an African American man I find it hard to believe how naive my people are. Let us look at the facts 15% unemployment among our people, 50% unemployment among our teenagers, highest foreclosure rate, highest incarceration rate, lowest net worth ($5,000).our college graduates cannot find jobs, $16trillion deficit, and 47 million on food stamps. Gas at $4 a gallon, inner city schools a shambles both structurally an academically and we want to vote this guy back in for another four years, please!!had this been a republican white president al sharpton and crew would be marching all around the white house demanding change, but instead they sit by subservient and dutiful and choose to ignore the facts just because obama is black, how sad. We are very much worse off than we were 4 yrs ago, it’s just baw, ebony, jet and all the other black pundits and black politicians won’t admit the obvious. they are better off because they are part of the problem, but for the other 98% of black people we are in dire sraits.every other ethicnicity in this country as a whole are doing better than us, but yet we still accept the excuses, rhetoric by politicians and radio host who are past their prime. The path that we are on will only lead us to more government dependence and encourage our people’s laziness and the obvious answer? We need a change in Washington and obama should be the first to go. at least the republicans have new ideas, new and younger people while we stand by and watch the train of progress pass us by all because we are afraid to take a chance, god help us.
Since I started with my online business I earn $62 every 15 minutes. It sounds unbelievable but you wont forgive yourself if you don’t check it out. Red97.com
If I don’t. Continued misfortune death n destruction to u people
Your English is pathetic double negative nappy headed white boy DJ….I’ll vote for him cause he black and should too….Stop preachn to the choir and furnish the HSBC with up to date books and open a school in Chicago next to Oprahs.
HOW DARE YOU NOT VOTE! As previous posts have pointed out, our ancestors have fought, bled and died for the right to vote. It is disrespectful to do anything less. For those people who have religious people telling this not to vote, I would seriously consider looking for another church because this is promoting self, not others. How many gay members are in your church? President Obama needs 4 more years to turn around what it took over 8 years to mess up. Think about it…it can take less than an hour for a house to burn to the ground, but over a year to be rebuilt. It just makes sense. I see nothing immoral about not believing in discrimination. That is basically what many people want the President to do as it relates to gay people. Have we forgotten slavery and jim crow and how we were thought to be less than human because of the color of our skin? Don’t let this be a distraction. Lastly for those who feel nothing has changed for them, I would ask what have you done to help yourself? President Obama is not going to knock on your door and fix everything for you; you have to do your own work. One suggestion is to vote every time the polls are open. The people that make the laws and create jobs in our state and community are elected in the local and state elections. The Republicans have control because we did not vote. Because the Republicans have control, they have done everything to oppose the President in what he wants to accomplish for the country. We should all be present every time the polls are open. I for one do not want to fight battles that have already been won during the Civil Rights era. That is where we are heading if we don’t WAKE UP!

Forget About preachers for a moment they can’t even answer why are their 30 churches on every five blocks in the black neighborhoods.
This is the question for everyone on this post : What do you think the European people’s main agenda is not the stupid uneducated European’s, but the one’s that control the global economy.?Here’s the choices!
A. To fix the economy
B. To get rid of al-Qaeda
C. To ensure the survival of their race into the future by any means necessary
If you don’t pick C you better check your alarm clock cause it didn’t go off and you are still sleeping.
Citizens, preachers tell us all the time that God is the author of miracles. Most black folks should know by now that Obamas election was a miracle. And half of America don’t believe this miracle took place. But even this president cannot flip 8 years of the fiscal damage caused by Bush and those Republicans.Mitt wants to blame this president for not getting us out of this deep ditch fast dug by them red necks..VOTE.Affirm this miracle..
Tom, I for one agree with your whole statement. I don’t believe in “Some” of the things President Obama stands but I do believe in most of what he stands for. I am happy for what he has accomplished even though he has twice as many obstacles to fight than any other Presidents. Churches shouldn’t tell their members not to vote. People have died for the right to do so. And yes, even if you don’t agree with everything the President is for, Mitt Romney is ready to take us back a 100 years. I’m sure black folks aren’t ready to go back, then let’s move forward!!
I would just like to respond to another commentor. What has President Obama done? He was responsible for ridding the world of the man responsible for 9/11 and many others like him. He has brought over 4.5 million jobs back to our economy. He has given us country wide healthcare for the first time in over 50 years. He basically saved our economy when it was going off the fiscal cliff under Bush.
You ask about the Black employment rate? Did it change for you under Bush? Has the Black unemployment rate changed under any president except maybe Clinton? Do you think that Romney cares about any Black people? Black folks are the main part of the 47% that he believes to be on welfare and freeloading. So gwanedum, what else can the President do but to head us in the right direction? Matter of fact, are you doing anything to help the situation except whining and complaining? Rev Al Sharpton always says, take a good look in the mirror and see where change starts. Another commentor also said, how many gay people are in the Black Christian church. It is a lot and has been that way for years but that was something that wasnt discussed. Many of the Church music directors were and still are predominantly gay. Has the pastors asked the gay congregants to leave the church? We are all God’s children in the eyes of the Lord and he will judge us. Anyone who claims to be a Christian and denies his fellow man, should read the Bible and understand the we are all God’s children point. We are also our Brothers keeper and should do all we can to help our fellow man. WE ALL NEED TO VOTE FOR PRESIDENT OBAMA or go back to the policies of the 60′s and maybe loose our right to vote entirely.
As the wife of a black Pastor I would be horrified if my husband told our congregation not to go out and vote. First of all, the pulpit is not the place to air your political choices, that’s why there is a separation of church and state. Second, whether you believe in all that the President stands for is beside the point. The point is that this nation has tried long and hard to suppress the black voters from making their voices count. Many people gave their lives for what we take for granted and that’s making a difference in how we live and what lies ahead for our children and grandchildren. It’s simply irresponsible for a Pastor to tell people not to vote and it’s even more irresponsible for people to follow that advice. Those who want to gripe and complain about what the President has not been able to accomplish for black people during his first term need to remember that he alone is unable to make changes. It takes the House of Respresentatives and Congress and they set out from the time he was nominated to “make him a one term President”. All the more reason for black people not to only pay attention to a presidental election, but to check out who is running for your senate and congressional seats. They will have a huge impact on what improvements are or are not made. As my husband tells the church “I don’t care who you vote for, you have a responsiblity to at least vote”.
Amid warnings from other world leaders—and planned protests outside—Mahmoud Ahmadinejad addressed the United Nations General Assembly on Wednesday, his last speech in front of the world body as president of Iran.
The outspoken Iranian leader called for a “new world order,” criticizing capitalism and the United States and Europe for “trampling on the rights of others” and contributing to global poverty and humanitarian failures.
“The history of mankind is marked with failures,” Ahmadinejad said in a speech that was not attended by the U.S. and Israeli delegations in protest.
Ahmadinejad ticked off a long list of those failures—including environmental atrocities, the killing of “millions” of people in U.S.-led wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the “throwing of [Osama bin Laden's body] into the sea” without witnesses or a trial, and a world media sympathetic to “Zionism”—before lamenting “how beautiful and pleasant our lives and the history of mankind would have been” without them.
“Poverty is on the rise, and the gap is widening between the rich and the poor,” Ahmadinejad said, blaming the “current world order, founded on materialism, that aims to monopolize power, wealth, science and technology for a limited group.
“There is no doubt that the world is in need of a new order and fresh thinking,” he said. “An order that aims to revive human dignity and believes in peace and welfare for all walks of life.
“Do people that spend hundreds of millions on election campaigns have the interests of people of the world at heart?” Ahmadinejad asked.
[Slideshow: Images from the U.N. General Assembly]
“Capitalism is bogged down in a self-made quagmire,” he said, calling for a U.N. restructuring.
Ahmadinejad’s speech came a day after President Barack Obama issued a stern warning to Iran over its nuclear program.
“Make no mistake,” the president said. “A nuclear-armed Iran is not a challenge that can be contained. It would threaten the elimination of Israel, the security of Gulf nations and the stability of the global economy.”
On Tuesday, Ahmadinejad scoffed at the notion of an Iranian nuclear buildup.
“A nuclear weapon? For what? For what purpose?” Ahmadinejad said in an interview with the Associated Press. “Why would we do that? What would we use it for?”
The leader of Iran—who refuses to refer to Israel by name—also dismissed talk of a U.S. or Israeli military strike on Tehran’s nuclear facilities, Agence France-Presse said.
“Uncultured Zionists that threaten the Iranian nation today are never counted and are never paid any attention in the equations of the Iranian nation,” Ahmadinejad said earlier this week.
Demonstrators who have been protesting this week outside the hotel where Ahmadinejad is staying were expected to be outside the U.N. while he spoke.
In a statement issued before Ahmadinejad’s speech, Erin Pelton, spokeswoman for the U.S. Mission to the United Nations, said: “Over the past couple of days, we’ve seen Mr. Ahmadinejad once again use his trip to the U.N. not to address the legitimate aspirations of the Iranian people but to instead spout paranoid theories and repulsive slurs against Israel.” He doesn’t sound to crazy to me. The Iranian people are in trouble
Most folk in the church are like cattle; they are so happy to be a part of.. they will go along with whatever the pastor says, rather than think for themselves. An excerpt from the book “The Mis-Education of the Negro, ” talked about this very subject. The Romney’s of the world “…will find a negro willing to do certain things they desire to have accomplished and will finance him and give him sufficient publicity to get before the world for a few favors which he may dispense among his followers are a result of his influence and economic position…” (p123); and they are financing these preachers to miseducate their flock, telling them not to vote for the first Black President, an awesome President at that based on one issue. These same negros will be crying foul when the clock is rolled back as a result of their ignorance. Think for yourselves cattle because your preacher is financed to talk you our of voting for the President who has YOUR best interest at heart !!!!!!
I for one don’t get this standoff with Iran.Ahmadinejad asks, For what reason would Iran want a nuclear bomb? I would imagine, the same reason the USA has thousands..To deter any aggressor from occupying our land.Israel seems to be goading our country into doing something stupid, again.Iran understands our country has nuclear sharks Patroling every ocean, along with intercontential misslles that could reach his country in minutes.Missles that would rain down death and destruction.and flatten Iran. So,why would Iran want such a weapon? Folks, trust me,if missiles like these start flying everywhere, mankind is doomed. It only takes one bomb to start the fireworks, ask Condi Rice who warned us about that first bomb exploding. It works both ways…War is hell folks..
when was the last time you been to church? I go to church on a regular basis. I am active at the church that I attend but I disagree on with my pastor on a few things to include this election. He doesn’t speak about the election in the pulpit but offline he expresses his opinion. He doesn’t support Obama nor does he support Romney. He has said on numerous occasions that he and his wife plan to stay home along with alot of collegues and other people he knows. I for one disagree with that. I think that we have a civic duty to vote. Too many people have fought and died for the right to vote in this country! My friend that is thinking for myself. If you have a true relationship with God then you will not go along with whatever the Pastor says. You will go along with what God says because you will know God for yourself. If the Pastor is in line with Christ then I will line up with the Pastor. If he is not then I will not be under that Pastor. You can’t make sweeping generalizations of all people who attend church! that would be incorrect. And as for your comment on the President my question to you is what has Obama really done for Black America that causes you to believe that he is awesome? We as African Americans have the highest unemployment rate in the country! If he is reelected nothing that he has done leads me to believe that that number will improve.
Its a shame that in this day and age, some folks are so hung up over religious theory that they are willing to throw their lives in the toilet. Ever heard of “the lord helps those who help themselves”? People, like Tom said, the President is not running for Chief Minister or Top Preacher. He is running for President again to improve our lives. Every person that doesn’t vote in this very important election is giving a vote to the opposition. The Republicans are already trying to surpress the votes of Minorities in many states. People fought, bled and died to get our right to vote. If you do not vote, you deserve anything that happens to you. WAKE UP BLACK AMERICA.. The President came out in favor of rights for gays. He didn’t say that one person had to agree with his view. If you are concerned about how this country is going to be run for the next 4 years, you had better vote. Are you concerned about Social Security, Health Care, Medicare and Medicade, Jobs? If you are, you had better vote for President Obama because the Republicans have PROMISED to get rid of all social programs, Pell Grants, and anything else that helps Minority and downtrodden people in this country. Do you think that Mitt Romney cares anything about minority people except for being servants? Everyone needs to WAKE UP and ensure that this country continues to recover and not go back to the policies of the past that have doomed us during the Republican years
Our President has lost his moral compass.
Cut to the chase: No one should tell you NOT to vote. Take a moment and remember what it took to get the right to Vote.
In the words of the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., “You are not only responsible for what you say, but also for what you do not say.”
Love this article however, I think it is time to cut these bible thumping folks from our community & support. The bible was use as the bases to discriminate against our parents yet we see no problem using that same rational against homosexuals & pro abortion folks.
The last time I check we die on our own, answer for our individual beliefs to who ever you choose to believe in, & you sin or ask for forgiveness on your own. How does this affect the next person is new to me.
I know who have been canvassing for, phone banking for, & will be voting for.
Folks,we should not forget, that this President will be remembered centuries from now when we’re all dead and buried. There are some citizens who would like this President remembered as a one term failure. However, most of us know better. He has proven to our children and grandchildren, and to the planet. It don’t matter what color you are. It’s about the content of our character. Our children and grandchildren has seen for themselves that they can strive for the highest office in this land. And we can look them in the eye now. This President deserves to be reelected, cause he has done a great job,and he is still standing tall for us.And our children and grandchildren.Let the church say Amen. Then wake up on Nov 6 and take your butts to VOTE.
Romney will try to use black america to win the election! Romneyrants.com
CindyCruz,You really think this President has lost his moral compass?.I really believe those red necks been lost theirs. They robbed our ancestors of their freedoms and dignity. On November 6, we got that choice again. The artificial red neck,or President Obama.I am going to convince one of my girls to walk the mile with me and VOTE.If God wakes my azze up on that day…
Mighty funny thing in 2004, Karl Rove came out with “Bush is a Christian” and Black voters fell for it. After Katrina hit, Blacks saw that they got used. Now, gay rights is keeping Blacks from voting for MY President and you think that Mitt has your best interest in mind? THINK AGAIN!!
Hello Tom, you have spoken all the right words. There is no man perfect to be President inside the White House but the best man to President inside the White House is President Barack Obama. We only have a few more days left until the election, Let us all get out and Vote, Vote, Vote!!! Vote for the right man this coming November, Re-elect President Barack Obama!!! May God Bless You.
@Just want to be
