The performing arts is responsible for giving birth to so many actors, dancers, singers, musicians and artist that we all know and love today. If it wasn’t for performing arts programs in the community we might not have had a Janelle Monae or Common.
Recently schools have sought to shut down the performing arts program because of funding but fail to realize how doing that can hurt students or put them in danger.
Roland Martin talks with former Basketball Wives Star Royce Reed with Fantashique Apprentice Dance Company about how important the performing arts are.
“And I really love the arts because I think it one keeps you healthy and it’s something that we are losing. And a lot of our schools are getting rid of the performing arts,” expressed Reed. “And I think it’s extremely important to keep them there. Especially with my company, a lot of these girls wouldn’t have any way to dance or perform if it wasn’t for my company.”
