It looks like Flavor Flav said the wrong thing about the wrong person at the wrong time and caught a beatdown.

The Public Enemy hype man told authorities that the man who slugged him, Ugandi Howard, did so because he somehow thought Flav disrespected his mother. Flav says Howard punched him in the face, and kicked him while he was on the ground. As a result of the attack, the entertainer pulled a groin muscle.

The beating happened Tuesday at the South Point Casino, law enforcement personnel told TMZ.

As far as Howard is concerned, the casino’s security people took him into custody. When officers arrived, he was cited for battery and released. Meanwhile, Flav went to a hospital to get checked out, but only suffered minor injuries.

And since it happened in the casino, the confrontation was captured on surveillance video, and law enforcement says it shows Howard throwing the first punch.

*In related news, Chuck D is speaking out about the lawsuit Flav filed against him, as well as Public Enemy.

As previously reported, Flav is suing for unpaid royalties and the use of his likeness on Public Enemy’s July album, Nothing is Quick Like the Desert. He also alleged the group’s management and related companies “have for years attempted to minimize his role in the Public Enemy business,” and that he hasn’t been getting regular songwriting royalty statements for several years, even though he’s penned more than 50 of Public Enemy’s songs.

Chuck D, whose real name is, Carlton Douglas Ridenhourtold TMZ of the lawsuit, “Flav has his rights, but took a wrong road on this.” He explained that Flav is angry with the way a third-party merchandiser is handling their items.

“We will be [TOGETHER]on a future stage,” he continued, adding that Flav “will again be embarrassed admitting on stage about the way it spun out. It’s always this way with him.”
