Written by Carol Mendelsohn, known for her work on CSI, is based on the new book The Bomb Maker by Thomas Perry. It’s about a retired private security expert that comes out of retirement when his old team, the LA Bomb Squad, is killed in a trap set by a deadly killer. He returns to rebuild the squad with rookie members in hopes of catching the killer.
The book set to come out in January was optioned by Mendelsohn who thought Chestnut would be perfect for the role. After receiving the information and reading the book, Chestnut liked it enough to want to star in a show.
Once Mendelshon had committed to shooting the series Chestnut joined as the star and executive producer.
