prince-herbrittsA documentary on the life of Prince is in the works for 2017, according to Screen Daily.

Titled Prince: R U Listening?, the film will focus on the late singer’s early years and rise to fame – complete with commentary from the musicians who worked with him, as well as friends a family.

The doc will include interviews with Dez Dickerson, who joined Prince’s touring band in 1979 and left the group after the 1999 tour, and André Cymone, who played bass in Prince’s teenage band Grand Central in the 70s and toured with Prince through 1981.

It will feature additional interviews with Prince’s colleagues and admirers, including Mick Jagger, Billy Idol, Bono, Lenny Kravitz and Sheila E.

Prince: R U Listening? will be produced by 13 Films and helmed by Michael Kirk, best known for writing, producing and directing the PBS docuseries “Frontline.”

A release date has yet to be announced.

black-ish actress Yara Shahidi told The Real about her memories of Prince on when she guest-starred on the show this week. Her father worked with Prince for years.

Paisley Park will host a four-day celebration of his life April 20-23. Morris Day and The Time and The Revolution are expected to perform. For more information head to the official Paisley Park website HERE.
