46th NAACP Image Awards Presented by TV One - Arrivals

A former nanny for Omar Epps and his wife Keisha is now suing the couple for back wages and unpaid overtime after working for them for eight years.

According to TMZ, Alba Hernandez says her primary responsibility was to take care of their two children, but she says she also ran errands, tidied up the house and took care of their pets without ever being paid extra for overtime.

Hernandez says all of her household duties combined took more than 40 hours a week to complete, but she was never compensated for working past her scheduled hours.

She made $65,000 per year, according to TMZ, but feels she would’ve made much more on an hourly rate.

Hernandez didn’t specify how or why she stopped working for the Epps family.

Interesting that she worked for them for 8 years and now she’s suing. I think she will end up on the losing side of this lawsuite. You can’t work for someone, accept your wages for the work you did, then realize you could have made more with an hourly wage. Hell, all of can make more on an hourly wage; that’s why employers pay people annual salaries. There will be times when you will work over 40 hours and there will be times that you don’t. It all washes out. Additionally, how will she be able to prove the days/times that she did work over 40 hours for eight years. I think she did not think this lawsuit out very well.
