In a video provided exclusively to ABC News, Chris Brown declares his innocence following his arrest on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, and says the text messages his accuser sent to a friend will prove that she set him up when accusing him of pulling a gun on her.
“I cannot wait till the truth comes to light about this incident and this situation,” Brown says in the video. “You know, because my character’s been defaced and who I am as a person and my integrity.”
His accuser Baylee Curran alleged that Brown pointed a gun on her inside his Los Angeles home last week. Her 911 call from Brown’s home early last Tuesday prompted the response from police that led to a 14-hour standoff. The situation ended when police obtained a search warrant to enter the residence and took Brown into custody. He was later released on $250,000 bail.
Curran, one of dozens of guests at Brown’s Tarzana home that night, told ABC News he pointed a gun at her face after he became angry when she complimented another man’s jewelry. “I was just standing over it admiring it. Not touching it…and then one of Chris’s friends says back away from the diamond,” Curran said. “That’s when Chris came in and said ‘I’m so sick of all of you people.’ He took the gun out put it in my face and said ‘get the F out.’”
But Brown’s attorney, Mark Geragos, called the allegations “demonstrably false” and said he believes Brown was set up by Curran. Geragos shared the text message previously reported by TMZ that he says Curran sent to a friend minutes before the 911 call was placed. It read: “This freak Chris Brown is kicking me out of his house because I called his friend’s jewelry fake…I’m going to set him up and call the cops and say that he tried to shoot me and that will teach him a lesson. I’m going to set his A** up.”
Geragos told ABC News’s Matt Gutman “There was a search that was done. They went in, and said they had a description of the piece of jewelry. Not found in the house. They went in, a gun, not found in the house.”
Surveillance cameras on the singer’s property are also being investigated, Geragos told ABC News.
“There’s no Chris Brown waving a gun. No Baylee looking at a box of jewelry,” Geragos said of the footage.
Brown’s next court date is set for Sept. 20. He has yet to be charged over the incident. Curran stands by her initial claims. A representative for Curran told ABC News that she has handed her cell phone over to authorities.
