“Empire” star Gabourey Sidibe recently took to Instagram to show off her impressive weight loss. The 33-year-old actress explained that she went on a crash diet because she was tired of looking at the obesity that stared back at her in the mirror.

SandraRose.com notes how Sidibe has always suffered from poor body image.

“My first diet started when I was six-years-old. I’ve never been a small girl,” she told Oprah Winfrey in 2009. “One day I had to sit down with myself and decide that I loved myself no matter what my body looked like and what other people thought about my body… I got tired of feeling bad all the time. I got tired of hating myself.”

TimetoBreak.com didn’t catch a break from Sidibe after they included her in a weight-loss gallery, using her photo in a side-by-side image that mislabeled her as “Glee” star Amber Riley.

She responded to the lazy write-up by saying: “1.) My name is Gabourey Sidibe. Put some RESPEK on it!” she posted on Twitter last week after they used the name of her breakout character, Precious, in the headline. “2.) Amber Riley and I are not the same person.”

  1. Why don’t you all stop telling the “big boned” lie. They are females with the genes to shapely carry weight excess what we term as normally weight women. To lie in such way indicate we should not put much trust in your comments.

Take care of your body, Honey! Gravity affects us all, mostly in negative ways. Monitor your health, ignore those who advocate for obesity. Keep your courage!
