New Jersey native Carrie Compere plays a Church Lady in the Color Purple on Broadway. Most known for her roles on stage in Holler If You Hear Me and Shrek, she talks to the Tom Joyner Morning Show about her role in the hit Broadway play and how after only six years in the business, she’s landed a role in two national tours.

What’s different about this run of The Color Purple?

“This version is different. It’s beautiful, it’s a little more understated, but the show is amazing,” Compere said.
