UPDATE:

After clips surfaced showing Adele telling a Los Angeles audience that she turned down the halftime gig for 2017’s Super Bowl, the NFL and sponsor Pepsi have come forward claiming that they never extended her an official offer.

“The NFL and Pepsi are big fans of Adele,” they said in a joint statement on Sunday, according to Billboard. “We have had conversations with several artists about the Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show. However, we have not at this point extended a formal offer to Adele or anyone else. We are focused on putting together a fantastic show for Houston and we look forward to revealing that in good time. The British singer told an audience Saturday at her Los Angeles concert that she was asked to perform at the event.

“First of all, I’m not doing the Super Bowl,” Adele says from the stage in a video posted on Twitter. “I mean, come on, that show is not about music. And I don’t really — I can’t dance or anything like that. They were very kind, they did ask me, but I did say no.”

She adds: “I’m sorry, but maybe next time.”

Performers at previous halftime shows have included Beyonce, Madonna, the Rolling Stones and Prince.

Adele for the 2017 Super Bowl halftime show? Yes, please.

According to new reports, the “When We Were Young” singer is being courted as the halftime performer at this year’s big championship game. The only issue Adele is having, allegedly, is her nerves.

From Just Jared:

The 28-year-old superstar is reportedly being courted by the NFL, TMZ reports. The site reports that Adele’s nerves may be the only thing holding her back, as the halftime show is watched by over 100 million people. The rumors first began with a report from The Sun.

Adele notoriously broke the internet with her third studio album 25, after a three-year plus hiatus from music. We say she’s the perfect choice, but only time will tell if this rumor actually comes to fruition.
