Both series follow the journey of what it takes to make it in the music business and the behind the scenes happenings of what it takes to be a pioneer in the music industry.
The Grammy winning producer talks to the Tom Joyner Morning Show about his move to television and why it’s harder for a female rapper to be successful than a male rapper.
The premise of ‘The Rap Game’:
“I put these kids through Jermaine Dupri boot camp to see who is ready to work with me. You get a chance to see the beginning of a process.”
Who has it harder – male or female rappers?
“People really don’t give female rappers a chance to do well. When I signed Brat I was scared as hell. Prior to Brat coming out, she was the first to go Platinum solo. To get a guy to ride around in his car listening to a female rapper is hard.”
