Alexandra Shipp stopped by the “Wendy Williams Show” to promote her role as Storm in “X-Men: Apocalypse.” The actress revealed to Wendy that since shaving her head bald for the role, lesbians have hit on her hard — even more so than men! When Wendy asked if she has kissed a girl, Alexandra said she has and she liked it just as much as the attention she receives from women.
Shipp also cleared up rumors that she and rapper Mos Def are dating. After the duo were photoed together in Montréal last August, speculation spread like wildfire that they were getting in on, but she said they are JUST friends. To back her assertion, Wendy Show producers pulled up the picture on the big screen and she pointed out her mom’s legs in the background to prove they were hardly on a date. Alexandra said they just happened to bump into each other after she and her mom left a spa.
Shipp is best known for her roles on the TV series “House of Anubis,” and as the title role in the biographical television film “Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B.” She’s also appeared in films such as “Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel,” “Switched at Birth,” “Drumline: A New Beat,” and as Kimberly Woodruff in “Straight Outta Compton.”
Her role as young Storm (previously played by Halle Berry) in the latest installment of the superhero film “X-Men: Apocalypse,” has left fans of the comics — especially those who do not subscribe to the racist 1 drop rule — wondering yet again why a non-black woman has been cast to play a black superhero. Storm has always been depicted as dark skin in the comic books but considering that Hollywood is very anti-black woman, biracial Shipp was cast to help further the agenda that authentic black women simply aren’t good enough.
