NEW YORK (AP) — George Lopez, D.L. Hughley, Cedric the Entertainer, Eddie Griffin and Charlie Murphy will be making a series for the BET Network on the behind-the-scenes world of a comedy tour.
“Comedy Get Down” is about their concert tour of the same name. BET described the scripted series as a workplace comedy at its core, and it was one of several new projects announced Wednesday at a presentation to advertisers.
The network hasn’t said when the show will be on the air.
Tony Award winners Anika Noni Rose and Ruben Santiago-Hudson will also star in a new drama about a fictional black college, and BET is doing a reality series with Gary Owen, former host of BET’s “ComicView.”
