The Brooklyn District Attorney’s office on Wednesday dropped charges against five teens who were accused of raping an 18-year-old woman in a Brooklyn, New York park, according to DNAinfo.

The woman recanted her rape allegations against the teens, who were accused in January of sexually assaulting her at gunpoint at a park in Brownsville, Brooklyn, after driving her father away from the scene. The father reportedly went to seek help at several bodegas before encountering NYPD officers.

But the teens claim they came upon father and daughter while they were having sex in the park. “Their lawyers provided cellphone video that they said showed the woman consenting to have sex with them,” the report says.

From DNAinfo:

On Wednesday, Brooklyn District Attorney Ken Thompson announced that he was dropping charges against the teens.

“The complainant, as well as her father, provided multiple inconsistent accounts to NYPD Detectives and to experienced Special Victims prosecutors about important material facts in this case,” Thompson said in a statement.“

The complainant has recanted her allegations of forcible sexual assault and the existence of a gun, and she does not wish to pursue criminal charges against any of the defendants,” he continued. “She also refuses to cooperate with any prosecution against her father, who was engaging in sexual conduct with her.”

Abdula Greene, an attorney for one of the teens, said the charges were dropped because the young men were innocent, not because of lack of evidence. “The victim is not credible,” he told DNAinfo.
