Former Next singer Raphael Brown has been awarded sole custody of his two children after a long-running custody battle with his ex-wife, Juliette Gil-Brown.

In his legal docs, he accused Juliette of abusing their son and daughter, and plotting to move the children to Minnesota, where her family lives, Contact Music reports.

Brown and Juliette’s problems date back to 2014, when she accused him of domestic violence, and was granted a restraining order. TMZ obtained a copy of the order, which claimed the singer “on multiple occasions of hitting and shoving her, grabbing her by the neck, punching her in the mouth and kicking her.” She said many of the incidents occurred while she was pregnant. She also alleged that Brown would watch pornographic videos on the computer while their kids were in the room. He denied her claims.

TMZ obtained the latest legal docs in which Brown said his ex-wife “forcibly removed their son from school, the boy ran scared and screaming from his mom’s car.” Days later his ex tried again, but the cops intervened and sent the child home to his dad. Now, Raphael says he’s worried Juliette might also be abusing their daughter.

Juliette says Raphael is a “difficult person,” and that his reaction is “merely a ploy to escape paying child support.” She denies his abuse allegations.

Brown was a member of the R&B trio Next during the late 1990s and early 2000s. They are best known for their hit singles “Too Close,” “Wifey”, “Butta Love” and “I Still Love You” which all still receive frequent airplay on radio stations both in the US and internationally.

Next’s debut album, “Rated Next,” was certified double platinum, and the group was nominated for an American Music Award for “Favorite Soul/R&B Band/Duo/Group.”

Their most recent album, “Next, Lies, & Videotape,” was scheduled for a 2014 release, but was ultimately shelved.
