Kneeland Youngblood dramatically changed his career course, going from an emergency room physician to one of the most powerful businessmen in Texas. Today, Mr. Youngblood is the co-founding partner of the Pharos Capital Group, LLC, one of the top private equity firms in the state.

Born December 13, 1955, the Galena Park, Texas native attended Princeton University for his undergraduate studies and attended medical school at the University of Texas’ Southwestern Medical School. From 1985 to 1997, Youngblood was an emergency medicine physician at the Medical Center of Plano.

In the latter part of his career, the former political studies major began dabbling in politics and business. In 1994, President Bill Clinton named him to the board of directors with the United States Enrichment Corporation. During his time on the board, Youngblood became acquainted with a hero of his, the late South African leader Nelson Mandela. Youngblood also worked for First Lady Hillary Clinton’s Task Force on National Health Care Reform.

After riding in a private plane when he worked on the board of a tax reform committee, Youngblood was awestruck by the wealth of the businessmen on the jet and began to immerse himself in the financial world. In 1997, alongside partners Michael Devlin and Robert Crants, Youngblood helped found Pharos Capital. Today, he controls over $800 million dollars.

Youngblood has remained out of the public eye and is mum about discussing his actual worth, but at 60 he is emerging from the shadows to serve as an example for young people. In 2014, he made headlines after he was admitted to the all-white Dallas Country Club after waiting a staggering 13 years to have his application even seen. Youngblood’s main motivation in joining the club was to honor his father, who once waited tables at the facility.

Among all Youngblood’s achievements, he namea his family as the greatest accomplishment of his life. Alongside his wife of 30 years, Sharon, their six children – five daughters and one son – have all graduated from or are attending top schools such as Stanford, Harvard, Princeton and Yale.
