LOS ANGELES (AP) — Authorities say one former football player from the University of Southern California and another from Louisiana State University have been charged with a string of robberies and a carjacking in Los Angeles.

The LA County district attorney’s office says in a statement that ex-USC tight end Bryce Dixon and former LSU defensive tackle Trey Lealaimatafao were charged Thursday with five counts of second-degree robbery and one count each of carjacking, attempted carjacking and assault with a deadly weapon.

Both men pleaded not guilty at their arraignment.

Prosecutors say the crimes and the arrests took place Tuesday.

Both men were kicked off their college football teams for misconduct, though a judge overturned Dixon’s expulsion, allowing him to return to USC as a student.
