Tracee Ellis Ross, who’s made us laugh on the hit series black-ish this year, toned down the funny during an appearance on Larry King to discuss the Black Lives Matter movement.

Ross shared a snippet of her comments from the web-series “Larry King Now” on Instagram Sunday evening. In the clip, the actress gives the perfect answer as to why Black lives matter.

“I think, uh, Black lives do matter. Simply put.”

“How would anyone disagree with that,” King asked.

“I don’t know, but somehow people do.”

She also discussed how author Ta-Nehisi Coates inspired her with his critically acclaimed book Between the World and Me.

Other celebrities have expressed their support for the current movement that highlights the oppression many African-Americans face when in police custody. Empire’s Taraji P. Henson dropped a #IfIDieInPoliceCustody line as her rambunctious character Cookie regarding the death of Sandra Bland earlier this year.

Artists Kendrick Lamar and Janelle Monae released their respective singles “Alright” and “Hell You Talmbout” on the matter.

Meanwhile, Ellis Ross also explained why she’s not backing up a presidential candidate just yet, spoke about Kanye West’s bid for president in 2020, and opened up about her mother, Diana Ross.

Check out the refreshing interview above.
