The man who was twerked on by two women in a DC gas station is finally showing his face.

“I am so comfortable because I know the truth. I didn’t commit a crime. I didn’t do anything wrong, so I have nothing to worry about,” said Washington Tharpe, a 40-year-old local middle school teacher who sat down with ABC7’s Jennifer Donelan.

“It is not about me being afraid or not afraid or embarrassed or not embarrassed. I am speaking the truth. Maybe it will help someone else in the future.”

Tharpe had done other interviews about the incident, but chose not to reveal his name or show his face on camera.

Regarding the twerk assault, Tharpe said the assault lasted ten minutes both inside and outside the New York Ave. gas station and continued inside the car wash where the two women followed him.

Tharpe thought they might have been trying to set him up in a robbery, and feared for his life.
