When two Palestinian-American brothers were murdered in cold blood in a Florida gas station, surveillance cameras caught the shooting on tape. Police released the footage to the public hoping someone would help them find the killer, ID’s as Devin Chandler. But police in Palmetto, Florida were probably surprised when confirmation that Chandler was involved would come from his own mother.

The NY Daily News reports:

Devin Chandler’s mother confirmed her son was in security camera images Palmetto police showed her after Khasem Yousef, 23, and Faares Yousef, 17, were gunned down on Monday, the Bradenton Herald reported. U.S. Marshals arrested Chandler, 25, in nearby Tampa the following day, said Palmetto Police Chief Scott Tyler.

Police in the Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force surrounded a house in northeastern Tampa and Chandler surrendered, a spokesman for the U.S. Marshals Service Tampa office told the Daily News. Local police learned of the arrest around 1 p.m. and word Chandler had been collared reached nearly 200 mourners at the brothers’ funeral at a Tampa mosque later in the day.

We have faith in the legal system and pray that justice will be served and that, if indeed he’s found guilty and is indeed the one who committed that horrific murder, that he’s put in a position where he can never, ever hurt any human being again,” Florida Center for American Islamic Relations executive director Hassan Shilby told the Herald.
