Dear Tom,

My daughter, Kayla became a new mom last Tuesday, August 4th.   She is very frugal and she had been getting things ready for the arrival of her son.   She planned for her time off work, which is unpaid, and was getting the nursery together by putting the crib and other infant items on store lay-away.   However, 7 weeks prior to her expected due date, medical complications made her a mommy ahead of schedule.   She had to have an emergency cesarean and start her maternity leave early.

Kayla thought she had time, as well as a few more paychecks, to complete her preparation for her baby boy.  She is now home and will likely have to return to work prior to little, DeShawn, Jr. coming home from the neonatal intensive care unit, as he must stay to gain weight and strength.

Tom, I don’t want my daughter to have to experience a financial hardship at a time which should be the happiest and most memorable in her life—or to miss that one-on-one time during the first day’s home with her new son.   So, it is on her behalf that I am requesting a Christmas wish to help her with a month’s rent, some household bills and to assist her in finishing the baby’s nursery.

Kayla has a very strong support system from those who love her, but none of us can give her what matters most; time with her baby when he needs her the most.
