Michael Kenneth Williams of HBO’s “Boardwalk Empire” and “The Wire” has joined the Sony Pictures reboot of “Ghostbusters.”

The all-female remake from “Bridesmaids” director Paul Feig stars Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon.

Williams will play a character named Hawkins.

Andy Garcia also boards the project as New York City’s mayor. Matt Walsh, best known as press aide Mike McLintock of HBO’s “Veep,” also joins the cast as a character named Rourke. Chris Hemsworth (“The Avengers”) will play a receptionist.

Feig, who directed Wiig and McCarthy in “Bridesmaids,” is currently shooting the film in Boston for a July 22, 2016 release.

The original film starred Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson as scientists who develop technology to trap ghosts.
