Dear Tom,
First, I want to thank you for having a platform to celebrate great fathers that are making a difference in the world. I am writing this letter for my friend Johnny. He is one of those great fathers. He is a proud father of nine.
He has custody of five of his sons — ages ranging from 5-14. He works as a barber and has boxed professionally for the past few years. He sometimes gives free haircuts if the customer can’t pay. He also works with the neighborhood children, teaching those boxing techniques, and the importance of self-control.
Recently his house burned down with everything in it. He has tried getting assistance from the Red Cross, and even has tried to raise money to buy clothing, toiletries, shoes and whatever he and his boys needed. They have been washing the same clothes they escaped with, in the tub of the hotel provided by the Red Cross.
He is still working at the barber shop to get money for the first and last month’s rent and security deposit of his new apartment. Tom, they literally have nothing! He needs all of the help he can get! I am begging you please help my friend and his children with something!
