Terrence Howard’s legal battle against his ex-wife Michelle Ghent entered a new chapter as the “Empire” star claims she used witness intimidation to cover up her alleged plan to extort him.

Legal documents filed by Howard’s attorney, Brian Kramer, that were obtained by TMZ reveal the actor’s claims of Ghent’s attempt to strong-arm his sister-in-law Yvonne Howard to prevent her from exposing Ghent’s alleged extortion plot. The documents go on to mention that Yvonne, who is married to Howard’s brother, was told by Ghent that she was going to scare the entertainer into paying her big money with threatening to go public about sexual trysts and other lurid information.

According to Howard, Ghent went to Yvonne and put the pressure on to dissuade her from taking the stand or being deposed after she learned that Yvonne was on the witness list for the case.

In a new declaration, Yvonne stated that Ghent pressured her as she explained that no one could force her to testify. In addition, TMZ notes that Yvonne added that Ghent urged her to keep their conversation secret. So much so that Yvonne said it felt like plain intimidation.

As it stands now, the site reports that Howard is trying to reach a settlement agreement that would result in Ghent getting a large cut of money earned by the actor for the next season of “Empire.”
