Friend of the TJMS show, R&B Divas: LA star Lil Mo says one of her biggest challenges during her current pregnancy was recovering from the Fantastic Voyage last month.

“When me and my husband went home, we thought we were still on the boat for about a week,” she says. “We were up at 4 o’clock in the morning. We were so bored when we got off the course. We had a great time.” Lil Mo performed on the Fantastic Voyage and said that a lot of people were concerned about her during the cruise.

“I was like ‘I’m not handicapped,” she said. “I’m going to turn up!’ I got to go to my first Earth, Wind and Fire concert. There are a lot of things that you get to experience on the cruise that you wouldn’t in real life. At the autograph signing, I was sitting next to Tito Jackson. I was like ‘Tito!’ I was like so excited. It’s the people that you get to experience and eating pizza at 2 in the morning and everyone giving me mad love that you wouldn’t bump into in your normal life.”

Mo is on the radio on 92Q in Baltimore. Her show with DJ Quicksilver is targeted to the 18-34 demo.

“We’re going after the millennials, the youngins, cause these chillren need because I feel like they need someone to look up to. I’m not, uh, perfect but I out of all that I do and I go through my foundation is family, love and positivity and just making sure that people have a chance and being the voice of Baltimore like I always have been.”

Mo says the day of the riots they got a call beforehand that the riots were starting an hour after she was on the air.

‘I was like ‘What do you mean’ I had just come from the cruise. I was out of the country. We literally had to take on the stress of the city and the calls we were getting…Baltimore is real passionate. A lot of people don’t know it’s bigger than the Freddie Gray incident. People feel like they are oppressed. People are like ‘Why are ya’lll so mad? They’re hurting, they’re impoverished,” Mo says.

They feel like they’re in slavery. They just approved a $30M budget for a jail… for teens. You can get $30 million for a jail but not for afterschool programs. So you’re basically saying once you get grown, you’re going straight to jail. But you have get out there and vote. There are 39,000 ex-cons eligible to vote but they won’t register because they don’t know. If you want to be heard, you got to speak up. I want to be the female Tom Joyner.”
