Mo’ne Davis has done what a lot of adults probably could not do and advocated for the guy that publicly insulted her.

Joey Casselberry paid dearly when he called the 13-year-old Little League World Series star a “slut” on Twitter after it was announced that the Disney Channel was making a movie about her. He was booted from the baseball team at Bloomsburg University as soon as the school caught wind of his offensive Tweet.

However, TMZ.com reports that Mo’ne and her coach sent an email to the school asking university president David L. Soltz to reconsider the decision to yank Joey from the team. What they may not have been aware of is that it wasn’t just that the Joey had said something unkind that got him in trouble. His tweet violated the Bloomsburg athletic department’s social media policy, and it may also go against the school’s code of conduct.

While the school appreciates Mo’ne’s willingness to forgive Joey for his actions, Bloomsburg is not budging on its decision. A rep for the school said that it would not reinstate Joey, stating, “Right now we’re standing firm.”

Even though what Joey said was completely uncalled for, Mo’ne feels bad for him.

“Everyone makes mistakes and everyone deserves a second chance,” she told ESPN. “I know a lot people get tired of seeing me on TV, but you’ve just got to think about what you’re doing before you actually do it.”

Davis added, “I know right now he’s really hurt, and he’s worked really hard to get where he is right now.”

For his part, Joey has said that he doesn’t really have a problem with Mo’ne and that he’s actually big fan of hers.
