Horoscopes for the week of January 19th

“So Hum” means “I Am” in Sanskrit. When expressed, it is meant to identify your reality – a reality that is Universal. It is not a phrase used simply for self-identification, i.e., I Am Tracey; I Am a life coach; I Am my parents’ child. The broader meaning is that of being one with everything, i.e., I Am You; I Am We; I Am All. This is the mantra I was taught to internalize while meditating, inhaling “So” while exhaling “Hum,” and incorporating this practice has been my most successful attempt at being silent and present in a world that is noisy and disconnected. Through moments of serenity, I begin to see myself as part of a larger whole. I can see that I Am a living, breathing extension of all humanity.
This, I suspect, is what Martin Luther King, Jr. meant when he said, “I am what I am because of who we all are.”
#JeSuisCharlieHebdo; #JeSuisAhmed; #JeSuisNigeria; I am all of these things, and so are you dear reader. There is no divide. Just as we as a people can march peacefully for civil rights, we as a people do the world a disservice when we turn a blind eye to the denial of human rights. It is no longer acceptable to delay societal, environmental or individual progress by asking the same question time and time again, “What can I do?” Just do. One small step for man really is one giant leap for mankind, and the future is as much my responsibility as it is yours. Whether you are an artist, astrologer attorney, biochemist, executive assistant, mother, Muslim, teacher or student, your service is needed.
The Sun will move into the sign of Aquarius on Wednesday, January 20th, and shortly after, there will be a New Moon. People often confuse Aquarius with being a Water sign. But it is actually an Air sign that operates in the realm of innovation and ideas. The Zodiac symbol for Aquarius the Water Bearer is that of a man pouring Spirit and ether (not water) for humanity to consume. I should add that this sign has a reputation for giving the shirt off its back if needed, and they are the friendliest people you will ever meet. Combine this with Mars’ transit through the compassionate energy of Pisces, and we are further encouraged to find new ways of contributing to our fellow sisters and brothers. The Universe’s message is quite clear. Just do.
FYI, Mercury Retrograde starts the day after the New Moon, and will be in effect through February 11th. This means that you may have to do some extra planning before manifesting your vision for our future (yours and mine). But this is only one blip in a bigger process. Taurus: It’s always around this time of year that work matters pick up. In fact, you may be doing a lot of networking in an attempt to increase your clientele and generate business. Working with others is highly favored, but don’t be surprised if you find that they are not on the same page. If not, adjustments will have to be made, but that’s no excuse to give your project the ax. It would behoove you, actually, to listen to what they have to say. Gemini: Yours is a sign that genuinely enjoys socializing, especially when you meet extraordinary individuals who leave you feeling in awe. That may happen this week, and said individual may inspire you to join their team for the sake of charity. Most likely, you will appreciate the cause, and there’s a chance that it may inspire you to make your next career move. Get out and mingle Gemini, and feel free to drop names and share your wisdom. Cancer: You may appear as being more outspoken this week, Cancer. There’s also the chance that others won’t understand what all the fuss is about. Most likely, this activity stems around your desires and needs, whether from a monetary standpoint or an intimate one. If you are negotiating your values, you may have to keep up the good fight until March. But that doesn’t mean you should stop fighting. It also doesn’t mean you should rebel on without a cause. Leo: Romantic and business relationships will be highlighted this week, as you enter into discussions that focus on certain needs and desires with a significant other. Keep in mind that the conversation doesn’t have to take on dramatic tones, Leo. Compassion and light heartedness should be your strategy, especially since nothing will be resolved until March. Try not to attach yourself to an outcome, oh Fixed one. Instead, try to practice the art of intentional listening and understanding. Virgo: Activity intensifies on the relationship front, but don’t be surprised if you experience some start/stop energy with regards to a partner’s intentions (this could be for business or pleasure). As a Virgo, you prefer to know the next steps ahead of time. But I’m afraid you will not have that luxury over the coming weeks. I would simply go with the flow for now. Besides, there’s a ton of other stuff that needs your attention, namely daily affairs you thought were resolved that come up for review. Libra: A new romance could be what excites you this week, but try not to jump the gun, Libra. The “relationship” could lose its appeal quickly, which is why you should spend as much time tending to certain creative projects as you would wining and dining. To be honest, this latest crush could simply be a distraction that prevents you form tending to all of the other chores on your plate that must get done. I don’t doubt you are overwhelmed! Scorpio: Nurturing yourself can go a long way Scorpio, and it starts at home. You may feel the need to decamp for a spell, spending more time indoors with loved ones. Family planning is also highlighted if you are looking to add a new addition. This could even speak to emotional renewal, where you make amends with yourself and an estranged relative.
