Dear Tom,

I have a Christmas wish for a special man in my life— my husband, Jay.   Jay has always been a hard worker and a talented artist.  He attended the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB), an HBCU and is affiliated with Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity.

Jay was a high school art teacher before being diagnosed in 2007 with Sarcoidosis, an inflammatory disease that affects his lungs and lymph glands, ((like Bernie mac and our friend, Janice Brannon.))   He is in the late stage of the disease and he is often hospitalized, because he can’t breathe.  This makes him feel very depressed.

Tom, we have a 9 year-old son who shares the same talent for art as his dad and looks up to him.   Lately, all jay can talk about is producing beautiful paintings again for his boy.    I also feel that this will take his mind off being sick.   Unfortunately, it has been a real struggle for us financially, so we haven’t been able to get art supplies.

My Christmas wish is for Jay to receive a huge variety of oil, acrylic and watercolor paints, brushes, a palette knife, an easel, sketching paper and some large painting canvases, that he needs to paint his amazing pictures, mentor his child and restore some of the happiness he once felt as an artist.
