“I didn’t want to share this publicly…AT ALL!,” Kashuna Perfected writes in her silent, index card Youtube video. After being diagnosed with lymphoma cancer earlier this year, Kashuna struggled with deep depression and changes to her body that rocked her self esteem and made her feel “ugly.”

But God.

In this moving video testimony, she is sharing her story very publicly and hoping to help other plus-sized women with cancer.

On her website she writes:

In a world dominated by slender body types, plus-sized women are constantly working to achieve/maintain high self-esteem and a healthy image.  It is difficult having to overcome the challenges of dealing with their body’s image negatively displayed in media outlets.  When given a cancer diagnosis, one has to work to maintain a healthy emotional and mental state.

When I received my diagnosis on September 11, 2014, I immediately went into a depression.  The lymphoma manifesting in my skin gave me significant discoloration and made me feel very unattractive.  I didn’t like what I saw in the mirror.  But through meditation and family support, I began to change my outlook on my condition.  I was inspired to uplift other women like myself who are plus size and dealing with a cancer diagnosis by giving them a night of support, fun and fellowship.
