CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Panthers quarterback Cam Newton took all of the first-team reps during the 20-minute portion of practice Thursday that was open to the media.

Newton did not appear to have any problems throwing the ball and moved around well. He seemed in good spirits, spending time cutting up with teammates nine days after he was involved in a two-vehicle crash that left him with two fractures in his lower back.

Newton had split reps with Derek Anderson on Wednesday.

Coach Ron Rivera has yet to name a starting quarterback for Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns. Rivera and Newton are scheduled to address the media later Thursday.

The Panthers (5-8-1) are a half-game behind the New Orleans Saints in the NFC South with two games remaining in the season.
