Tyler Perry and his girlfriend Gelila Bekele are as happy as ever with being new parents to their son Aman, who came into the world in November.
Like most parents, they too have to adjust to having a new person in their lives. For Perry, the role involves some nights without much rest, but not as much as Bekele.
“I wish I could say that I’m up all night, but Mommy is doing a lot of work,” the 45-year- old producer and director confessed to TheGrio.com’s Chris Witherspoon. “She’s a great mother who just wants to be there for the baby.”
Apparently being there involves experiencing everything involving Aman without any assistance from nannies.
“We have no nannies, we have no help,” Perry said while explaining why he and Bekele wanted it as such. “She wants to do it all. So we’re doing it all. I’m getting a little sleep, but she’s not getting any.”
Fatherhood looks to be benefitting Perry, who expressed his appreciation for his new role earlier this fall.
“The greatest gift I’m being given right now is the opportunity to give the little boy in me everything I never had, so that’s what I’m excited about,” the entertainment mogul said.
“This beautiful human being that God has allowed to come into my life for me to get to know, because they come with their own personalities, who they are, to shepherd and usher him…”
