King of New Jack Swing and 90’s super Producer, Teddy Riley is setting sail on the 2015 Fantastic Voyage in April!

“When I heard who was going to be on that ship, I said I have to be on that ship, too,” Riley told the Tom Joyner Morning Show. “This is blessing and a dream come true to have who’s going to be on there with me – Johnny Kemp, Kool Moe Dee, Wrecks N Effect and Blackstreet,” Riley says.

There’s also Case, who Riley is working with now, Dave Hollister, Jeff Redd and other acts. Riley has produced and penned hits for many of this year’s cruise acts.

Riley is the acknowledged creator of New Jack Swing, which has been highly influential on current artists like Chris Brown, August Alsina, Usher, Jodeci and more. He started out in Harlem with Kids At Work, which later morphed into Guy.

“I was doing rap music because I didn’t produce just came up with the ideas for ‘Hey yeah’ and the keyboard parts because I wasn’t a full keyboard player,” Riley says.

“I was into the rap thing because all you had to do was make a dope beat and put a baseline on there and that’s how we came up with “The Show” with Doug E. Fresh. We did that in high school.”

On the show, Riley was able to clear up a longtime urban legend. Does Aaron Hall actually say the “b” word on Guy’s sexy track “Piece of My Love?”

“Aaron was actually scatting, so it sounds like it, but no,” Riley says. “We’ve been getting that for so many years.”

Riley just got his master recordings shipped to him and there are over 700 – wow.  The Guy album was his first hit record, he says. On the ship, Riley will judge Colored-Yoke, the Black version of karaoke, which will be all Riley songs. So get your best version of Guy and Blackstreet songs together.
