Soul singer Ledisi is featured in the next installment of HelloBeautiful ‘Interludes Live’, premiering on Saturday, November 29th on TV One.

“It’s a full band, it’s great, it’s live. It’s great to have a whole hour just to do what I do,” Ledis told the Tom Joyner Morning Show. “I’m very honored that TV One invited me to do the Interludes. It was a great audience in Philadelphia, it was great to be a part of it.”

Ledisi says that she’s singing a lot of her latest album The Truth. Songs like “88 Boxes” and the title track are among the songs she rarely plays live. “I’m going in,” she says. “I’m honored to display this album more so that people can hear where I came from. You get to see all of it just like you’re at the show.”

The show includes interviews and more information on Ledisi life growing up in New Orleans.

“Its very personal. It shows another side of Ledisi that people haven’t seen. You know all of us artists have a third person,” she laughs. “You heard my songs. Don’t act like you haven’t heard anything naughty!”

Despite suffering from stage fright, Ledisi says that she shakes it off so that she can be totally free onstage. Her preparation usually includes very hot water and not talking too much beforehand.

Offstage, she’ll be part of the ensemble cast in December’s Selma playing Mahalia Jackson. The film directed by hot director Ava Duvernay, is about the historic Selma to Montgomery march. It opens in limited release on Christmas Day.

“I’m opening up to my other sides as being an actress and artistry. It’s fun I never thought I could enjoy doing this part because I’m always freaking out on anything I do that’s different. But it’s great learning from others.”

Ledisi says that she’ll also be announcing a “big surprise” in December. She says it’s something special for her fans and if you follow her on her social media, you’ll be among the first to know about it. You can follow her @ledisi on Twitter to stay informed.

Hello Beautiful Interludes Live airs Saturday, November 29, at 10 p.m.
