Actress Taraji P. Henson keeps a job. The actress left Person of Interest last season but jumped right back into TV in Empire, the upcoming Fox drama also starring Terence Howard playing a Diddy-style record business mogul. Henson plays his wife, whose been in jail for years after a drug conviction.

Yet somehow, Henson also found the time to star in and produce No Good Deed with Idris Elba and appear in Think Like A Man Too over the summer. And she executive produces and makes a cameo appearance in the Lifetime TV move Seasons Of Love starring LeToya Luckett and Divergent‘s Cleo Anthony. Gladys Knight and Method Man are also in the movie.

“It was an opportunity for me to give a lot of new actors jobs and put on some new faces,” Henson told The Tom Joyner Morning Show. “In Hollywood, we recycle the same old faces especially when it comes to our projects. So I felt like why not introduce the world to some new talent? And so Method Man is in it, Gladys Knight is in it. It’s a love story and [it shows you] the seasons that relationships go through and the story takes place through all four seasons. It’s a charming holiday story for the people.”

Henson says the success of No Good Deed was gratifying, especially as it proved that some topics are universal.

“It was time to see ‘us’ in a light like that. I  hate to say ‘black’  film or ‘black’ TV show  because then white people think it’s not for us,” Henson says. “I don’t say ‘white’ movie. If a see a trailer and it appeals to me I say ‘I want to see that.”

Henson is currently shooting in Chicago where the polar vortex has taken hold. When the TJMS suggest she ‘find a big guy’ Henson is wiling, but with one condition.

“I don’t want a broke big guy. He gotta help out with the grocery bill. Because with a big guy, comes a grocery bill,” Henson laughs.

The movie will premiere on Lifetime Sunday, November 23rd at 9 p.m. Listen to the whole interview and hear Taraji and the TJMS dish about the Aaliyah Lifetime biopic.
