Sherri Shepherd’s estranged husband Lamar Sally has been eviscerated in the press as a gold-digging baby daddy who went after Sherry for her money. He says he just wants her to co-parent their son, Lamar, Jr., born by surrogate in August.
Shepherd has made no public statements on why she decided against maintaining the surrogacy agreement after the couple split, though it has been speculated that she viewed her estranged husband Sally as someone after a paycheck for the child.
Sally says he just wanted a co-parent. He told Inside Edition that he still doesn’t know quite why the marriage broke up and that he’s looking for support of the emotional kind in raising his son, not the financial kind. The child was born with a genetic birth defect which can be fatal. Sally says he was offered – and turned down – $150,000 to basically, go away.
On her part, Shepherd, who is still involved in divorce proceedings, says she just wants Sally to stop talking to the media. Now starring on Cinderella on Broadway, she told Robin Roberts on Good Morning America that she was ‘happy” and moving forward. She said the same thing to Queen Latifah on her talk show.
