Atlantic City, New Jersey was once a glittering hotspot that attracted partygoers and fast life folks from the East Coast and beyond.

But several casino closings, including that of the highly touted Revel casino, a billion-dollar luxury property that was just closed and sold for pennies on the dollar (and is now infamous for the Ray Rice elevator KO) have put Atlantic City in limbo as it decides whether it has a future, and if so, what kind.

NPR reports that Atlantic City’s troubles have left the town without 7,000 jobs and with four closed casinos, and a possible fifth one shutting down soon.

Is there hope the beleaguered waterfront playground, or is it doomed to be a ghost town?
