T.J. Holmes is officially part of the ABC News family after garnering popularity on CNN and hosting his own show on BET, “Don’t Sleep.”

Holmes’ first day on the job was Friday, Sept. 26 on “Good Morning America.” But his face wasn’t seen. He did a voiceover for a story about an actress hiding out on a roof from her stalker.

Nevertheless, Holmes made his onscreen appearance with Reena Ninan that same day. The pair reviewed two new movies opening up last weekend.

It wasn’t until the following day the “Good Morning America” team welcomed him on as the newest member of the team.

A representative from ABC News confirmed Holmes, 37, joined the network on a temporary basis.

“TJ is filling in on the overnight and will likely do reports for GMA when stories break overnight,” ABC News spokesman Jeffrey W. Schneider said in email to Richard Prince’s “Journal-isms.”

He anchored at CNN on weekend mornings for five years until leaving in 2011. He went on to host a short-lived late-night talk show, “Don’t Sleep” on BET from 2012 until 2013.

Since, Holmes has anchored for “MSNBC Live” and “Weekends with Alex Witt” for MSNBC as well.
