Dr. William Washington is a board-certified physician in private practice in Ohio. He was educated at Ohio State University, earning his medical degree there in 1989. Dr. Washington remains particularly excited about the opportunity to contribute to the awareness of health matters affecting the community in general, and African-Americans specifically.

Dr. Washington was a keynote speaker at last year’s African-American Male Wellness Walk in Columbus, Ohio, where thousands of men were screened for Prostate Cancer— several of whom were positively diagnosed.

As his practice is located in an urban area, Dr. Washington sees on a daily basis the importance of early testing, intervention and treatment of not only prostate cancer, but a whole host of other conditions that have had a negative  impact on the entire community, the Black community in particular.

I’ve burning while urinating could be the sign of a problem. I’ve experienced it twice have dealt with frequent urination for some time. I’ve been checked for an enlarged prostate, but diagnosed negative. What did you say that is a sign of?

I have an enlarged prostate. I went to doctor but he said nothing was wrong, is that possible?

Yes if the PSA and DRE are normal per urology results.

I am a 67-year-old with high blood pressure, HIV virus on dialysis and a PSA of 10. Should I get a prostate biopsy?

Yes, but your urologist should agree to this.

At night I go to the bathroom almost every hour on the hour but no burning or anything. During the day, I go maybe 3-4 times while at work. Should I be concerned?

I had my prostate removed.  Is it typical to still have frequent bathroom visits and leakage?

Yes and there could be various causes.
