Jacque Reid talks to family therapist Dr. Argie Allen about Simone Battle, the finalist on X-Factor and member of the group G.R.L. who committed suicide to the shock of family and friends.
“What’s different for alot of women is that we tend to be very strong and we tend to not show any problems on the outside, especially if you’re the matriarch in the family. I identify that as the Olivia Pope of the family,” she says.
How do we identify the difference between sadness and depression:
“Sadness is often times identified with being emotional, but depression is different. They are doing something that is totally different. If they’re really talkative, then they’re quiet.”
