“Meet the Press,” the long-running NBC Sunday news show, has announced that it will be adding a black journalist to its roster as part of an effort to revamp and modernize the show.

According to IndieWire’s Shadow and Act Blog, Washington Post political reporter Nia-Malika Henderson will make her debut as a “Meet The Press” regular contributor Sunday. Henderson will join the program’s new moderator, Chuck Todd, in his first show. From Shadow and Act:

Henderson, who, for a while, was the only black reporter for the political website Politico, joined the Post in 2010, and shortly afterwards became a familiar presence on MSNBC as a political analyst and pundit.

She will reportedly become of one of the show’s new regular panelists, discussing current events of the day in the network’s attempt to attract new viewers to MTP,  after it suffered a terrible ratings slide, with the show’s recently dumped former host David Gregory. Read more.
