A tragic story in the case of missing school teacher, Bianca Tanner, is closer than ever to ending.

Early this morning the Charlotte police department found human remains in a wooded area.

While police have yet to confirm if the body found is Tanner, they have re-arrested Angelo Smith and charged him with murder.

WCNC reports:

Police said the N.C. Medical Examiner’s Office will make a positive identification.

Tanner was last seen on Druid Circle on June 8 and was reported missing by her boyfriend. Police say phone and bank records have stopped and her car has not left the original scene on Druid Circle.

Tanner just moved to the Charlotte area from Greensboro. Tanner was employed in Greensboro as a second-grade teacher for Guilford County Schools.

Tanner started as a substitute teacher with Guilford County Schools in 2004. She was promoted to a full-time teacher two years later.

Tanner has a 3-year-old son, who was with her in Charlotte the weekend she disappeared. The child is now currently in the custody of the father. He does not live in Charlotte.

CMPD filed a delinquency of a minor charge against Smith, and he was arrested last week in Chicago.

Smith spent last weekend in the Cook County (Ill.) Jail and was extradited to Charlotte on Monday.

A judge set bail for Smith at $20,000 for the delinquency of a minor charge.

Posted this morning on the ‘Find Bianca Tanner’ Facebook page, the following message was posted:

“Thank you all for your continued prayers and support. The family asks for privacy as they try to deal with this senseless tragedy. GOD is a healer and they stand firm in their beliefs that GOD will help them overcome this too!”
