As much as I love Nicki Minaj (trust me my admiration runs deep) and everything she stands for, I’m not buying her recent response to the uproar following her acceptance speech at the 2014 BET Awards. The “Pills N Potions” rapper was clearly throwing shade as she blasted fake rappers ,as she pretended to sip tea, who don’t write their rhymes. Whether it was aimed at Iggy or not, the blatant diss rocked the Internet.
“My point is, what I want the world to know about Nicki Minaj is, that when you hear Nicki Minaj spit, Nicki Minaj wrote it,” she said. “And it made me realize, I don’t care what anybody got to say. I’m going to do me,” she said. “And I hope and pray that BET continues to honor authenticity.”
Nicki attempted to clarify her acceptance speech on Twitter, saying:
