You can now add Aretha Franklin to the list of stars to be given the biopic treatment by Lifetime.

The Queen of Soul confirmed her work with the network on a movie about her life and career with Billboard.com

“We’re very, very close to signatures on one agreement. It’s just a matter of our coming to terms and agreeing about what we’re doing to do.”

The confirmation is the latest development in Franklin’s efforts to get her life story told in movie form. The music legend is involved with selecting who will be cast in the movie, according to reports.

Although Franklin has made it known her desire for Halle Berry to play her, it’s been rumored that she’s had Tony Award winner Audra McDonald and Jennifer Hudson on her list of actresses for the lead role.

“Audra’s got a great voice to work with, but she’s very Broadway oriented,” Franklin says, “but that doesn’t mean she cannot perform in the arena of soul, so that’s why I’m interested in hearing how she would sing my things. The singing is certainly going to be a very, very integral and important part of it.”

As fans wait for Franklin’s biopic, one thing that may come sooner is the singer’s next album. According to Billboard, Andre 3000 will be among the producers contributing to the project, which will feature Franklin covering such classics as Tina Turner’s “What’s Love Got To Do With It,” Gladys Knight and the Pips’ “Midnight Train To Georgia,” Donna Summer’s “Last Dance,” and Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep.”
