R. Kelly’s alliance with the Isley Brothers has taken a new turn as R&B’s pied piper has sold his 14,525-square-foot Chicago mansion to one of the group’s founding members.

The Chicago Tribune reports the home was recently sold to Rudolph Isley and his wife, Elaine for $587,500. The couple’s reason for buying the mansion was personal, according to Lisa Alexander of Ziggy Realty, who stated the Isley’s offer was one of several for the property.

“They wanted to move to Chicago because they have children and grandchildren here,” the realtor revealed to the Tribune. “We sent them multiple properties, and everyone was aware of R. Kelly’s mansion. They love the grounds and love the property, because it’s fenced in. They love the house and they’re going to rehab it.”

The mansion’s history with Kelly goes back to 1997 when the singer built and lived there until it was foreclosed on in March. In 2011, Kelly became embroiled in a foreclosure lawsuit over the home over allegations of him not making monthly mortgage payments on it for more than a year. The 16-room compound includes five full baths, four half baths, a full basement, two fireplaces, an indoor pool and a six-car garage.

Upon seeing the mansion, Alexander noted that the Isleys, who live in Otisville, NY, “really liked the place” and knew it was coming on the market even before it was listed.

Rudolph Isley time with the Isley Brothers lasted 35 years. In 1989, he left the group to pursue a career in ministry. Unlike the remaining members of the Isley Brothers, Alexander said Rudolf Isley doesn’t know Kelly.
